Hugo Race has been writing songs, performing, producing, and touring the world for more than thirty years, performing both his own material and interpretations of others, and collaborating with a wide range of well-known and lesser-known musicians across the industry. In 1984, at the age of 20, he became a member of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and played guitar on their legendary debut album From Her to Eternity, as well as contributing to several tracks on Kicking Against the Pricks. In 1985, he released an EP with the band The Wreckery, followed by two full-length albums in 1987 and 1988. In 1988, the feature film Ghosts… of the Civil Dead was released, for which Hugo was a co-writer, while Nick Cave and Dave Mason (of The Reels) played their first major acting roles. In 1988, he formed True Spirit, with whom he has released seventeen albums. Alongside this, he has also released solo work and collaborated on numerous projects with other musicians, including DirtMusic (with Chris Eckman of The Walkabouts and Chris Brokaw of Codeine), Sepiatone (with Marta Collica), and Hugo Race & Michelangelo Russo. The current project of the tireless Australian artist, who will soon perform in Belgrade, is called Hugo Race Fatalists. In March this year, they released their sixth collaborative album, I Made It All Up For You. Critics describe Race’s existential songwriting style as framed by a perfect blend of early rock and blues with electronics, Italian soundtrack influences, and desert blues — shaped in large part by his collaborators in Fatalists. Hugo Race and the Fatalists will arrive in Belgrade at the end of the year. The concert will take place at KC Grad on Wednesday, November 11 at 21:00.
