Pat Todd spent nearly 20 years fronting The Lazy Cowgirls, one of the most influential American garage rock bands. After disbanding the group in 2004, he quickly formed The Rankoutsiders and released their debut album, the double LP The Outskirts Of Your Heart, on his own Rankoutsiders Records label. For this rock'n'roll hero, the transition from The Lazy Cowgirls to The Rankoutsiders came naturally. There was no real change in style. It was still high-octane, three-chord rock'n'roll built on the holy trinity of The Stooges, The New York Dolls, and The Ramones. Pat Todd and his band sing about broken hearts, society's outsiders, bad decisions, rock heroes, and ordinary people. Even during his days with The Lazy Cowgirls, Todd was already older than most of his peers, and his bald head made him look even older. Short in stature and far from athletic, he might have seemed almost grotesque at first glance. But the moment he stepped onto the stage and grabbed the microphone, a voice would roar from his throat like "a newspaper vendor shouting at the top of his lungs to sell the last few copies," while he spun around the stage—and beyond it—like a Tasmanian devil. The Lazy Cowgirls were renowned not only as an electrifying live act but also as pioneers of modern garage rock. Their live album Radio Cowgirl became the very first release on the legendary Los Angeles label Sympathy For The Record Industry (SFTRI), which later went on to release the first three albums by The White Stripes, among many others. Since 2006, Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders have released nine albums and have continued to tour consistently across the United States, Europe, and Australia. Now well into his seventies, Todd keeps going with a smile on his face and a clenched fist raised high. Today, he is the Johnny Cash of garage rock—a living legend. It is because of bosses like Pat Todd and a handful of others that Bad Music For Bad People exists. There is no greater honor than having the opportunity to host one of our all-time personal favorites.
