Slovenian saxophonist Jure Pukl leads a special trio featuring two outstanding American musicians — Joe Sanders on double bass and Gregory Hutchinson on drums.
Pukl is one of the most creative and active saxophonists of the younger generation of Slovenian jazz. He is a recipient of the Prešeren Fund Award, Slovenia’s highest national award for artistic achievement. Throughout his career, he has performed and collaborated with artists including Dave Liebman, Branford Marsalis, Esperanza Spalding, Vijay Iyer, Joe Lovano, Maceo Parker, Melissa Aldana, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and many others.
His original musical style moves between contemporary jazz, avant-garde, free improvisation, and impressionistic contemporary music, with a strong focus on interaction and collective music-making.
