About
"Pesmom po Balkanu" is a concert of traditional songs from across the Balkans, arranged and performed by Andriana Takić and Ulya Volkova at Kvaka 22, Ruzveltova 39, from 20:00.
The programme draws on several cultures of the region, in contemporary arrangements. The songs are linked by what they are about — love, women, the land, everyday work, belonging and identity — and each one is introduced with a few words on where it comes from and its cultural and historical background, so the evening runs as much on stories as on music.
Andriana Takić is a singer, guitarist and mentor working in traditional and world music, who treats traditional songs as living stories and builds her shows around storytelling, talking with the room and often singing together with it. Ulya Volkova, who also records as pleurereme, is a cellist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer; after fifteen years at the Gnesin music school she has worked across acoustic and electronic music, film and theatre scores and experimental projects, and plays regularly in Belgrade.
