NADJA — Canadian experimental drone duo on 3 September 2026 at Karmakoma, Belgrade “As menacing as it is immersive.” — Pitchfork Active since 2005, they have built a singular body of work defined by density, tension, and total immersion. Their music has been described as ambient doom, dreamsludge, and metalgaze: a slow-moving, all-consuming fusion of atmospheric textures, heavy guitar mass, noise, industrial pressure, and deep emotional force. Formed in Toronto and later based in Berlin, NADJA have spent nearly two decades refining a sound that stands apart even within the worlds of doom, drone, and experimental music. Their influence on the heavy experimental scene lies in the way they consistently brought together doom metal, noise, drone, and shoegaze into a unified and instantly recognizable sonic language. Critics have noted in their work a rare combination of heaviness, symphonic sense of motion, and inner tension, while their albums have become an important reference point for listeners and artists seeking a form somewhere between metal, ambient, and abstract sound art. Their latest album, cut, released in October 2025, finds NADJA in especially strong form: four extended compositions moving from experimental minimalism toward crushing industrial doom, expanded by saxophone, french horn, harp, and layered vocals.
