Daniela Huerta / electronics and voice
Daniela Huerta (aka Baby Vulture) is a sound artist working across interdisciplinary performance. Originally from Mexico and based in Berlin, her artistic practice treats sound simultaneously as compositional and archaeological material. Working across performance, spatial sound, and site-specific installation, she places listening at the core of her work as an active process that shapes perception, identity, and memory.
Her current research focuses on mythology as a living archive of collective knowledge, with a particular emphasis on suppressed female figures linked to chthonic (underworld) forces. Rather than viewing myth as narrative symbolism to be restaged, she translates its internal logic into contemporary sonic forms, bringing ancient wisdom into dialogue with speculative sound fiction.
At Crna Kuća, Daniela Huerta will perform her piece Metamorphosis. Exploring mythological modes of storytelling that move between the real and the imaginary, she seeks to penetrate the complex space of the human psyche. The new material weaves together fragments of earlier works, allowing each composition to continuously transform and evade a final form without leaving the flux. Combining field recordings, deconstructed rhythms, voice, and live sampling, she constructs hyperrealistic sonic spheres and immersive sound experiences that open up new possibilities of listening every time. Her approach is both raw and meticulously crafted; by exploring sound and pushing its boundaries, she reveals its power as a storytelling medium.
Her commissioned works include projects for the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, Centre Pompidou, Musée d’Orsay, MOCA Geffen Warehouse, Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, and arteBA. She has completed artist residencies at institutions such as EMS Stockholm, BEK, MONOM Berlin, Laboratoire formes · ondes at the University of Montreal, Morphine Raum, Goethe-Institut, and Amplify Berlin.
She has collaborated with artists such as Soundwalk Collective, Lucrecia Dalt, Iván Argote, Vincent Moon, Ash Fure, Ale Hop, Ali Demirel, Perila, and Cornelia Pierce. Her current projects include KOAXULA, a collaboration with Colombian artist Natalia Escobar that re-imagines female archetypes through mythological narratives; Huerta Ensemble, a joint project with Concepción Huerta dedicated to sound design, synthesis, and magnetic tapes; and WILDING AI, a public experiment exploring speculative futures of artificial intelligence through large language models.
She regularly performs internationally at venues and festivals including Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Casa del Lago, Museo Carrillo Gil, MUTEK Montréal, MUTEK Mexico, CTM Festival, Heroines of Sound, Berghain, Neue Nationalgalerie, Silent Green, and Kiezsalon.
Her music has been released on Other People, Concentric Records, Tsuku Boshi, Karlrecords, Kashual Plastik, Petites Planètes, and Elevator Bath.
